Magdalena Ujma-Gawlik

Magdalena Ujma-Gawlik (1967, Krakow), is an art critic and she investigates sexual identity in Polish art, feminist art, writing and painting methods in the so-called reflection era about art critique and the end of painting.

Nosadella.due invited Magdalena Ujma as part of Even identities, a research program about gender culture in Italian art, in order to favor relations between Italy and Poland with a view to a future information and cultural projects exchange. For this reason the curator has been introduced to current Italian situation through studio visits and meetings with artists and experts at the residence, as well as exhibitions in nearby galleries and museums.

Magdalena is a professor of History of Art at Catholic University in Lublin and she is also the chief-curator of the Planning Department at Bunkier Sztuki in Krakow. Since 1989 she published over 250 contemporary art essays and she currently writes for several art magazines and the quarterly «Kresy».
